When you use the website

Your CSV and Excel files are read and checked in your browser. ImportFix does not upload their contents, save them in a database, or add tracking or advertising scripts. Refreshing or closing the page clears the working file from the app. Downloads are saved by your browser on your device.

When you use the ChatGPT plugin

The plugin receives the file text you ask ChatGPT to provide. It processes that text for the current tool request and returns findings or a repaired CSV. ImportFix does not retain file contents or use them for training. The public plugin requires no ImportFix account. ChatGPT and the hosting provider handle conversations and operational logs under their own policies. ImportFix does not log the request body in application code. Do not include passwords or credentials in files.

What this beta checks

Shopify products: file structure, headers, product grouping, option combinations, price and inventory formatting, basic settings, and image URL syntax. Both current and selected legacy column names are supported. Mailchimp contacts: email column, basic syntax, surrounding spaces and duplicate emails. Custom templates: exact header names and order, plus required values, types, uniqueness, lengths and choices you specify. Recipe downloads contain these rules and column names. Rules are not inferred from sample data.

These are limited preflight checks. A passing result does not guarantee acceptance by the destination. Store records, product taxonomy, account settings, image availability, contact permissions and delivery are not checked. No direct import or email sending is performed.

Your decisions

Prices and identifiers are not invented. Duplicate records and permission values are preserved. Every applied repair has a change log. You can review proposed formatting repairs before downloading.

Excel limitations

Only the selected worksheet is converted. Styles, charts and workbook formatting are not preserved. Typed numeric cells may already have lost leading zeros; formulas are not executed. Check identifiers and dates before importing, or use a UTF-8 CSV export when exact displayed formatting matters.

Limits

Up to 5 MB, 20,000 records, 200 columns and 2,000 findings per file in the website. Plugin tool requests accept CSV text up to 200,000 characters and return at most 100 findings at a time. Malformed quotes and ambiguous separators need review rather than guessed repairs. Formula-like text is flagged and preserved.
